August Income Report and Halloween Update #2

OK, I just need to keep telling myself that as soon as I am done with these Halloween sites, I will concentrate on my existing sites and get them back up and making money! August wasn’t much of an improvement from July. In fact, Adsense did even worse :( But, I’m hoping I can turn that around in a few months with some elbow grease.

I just posted a big update on my IM Projects page so please check that out for more details on where I am.
As far as the Halloween sites go, I must have been smoking something to think I could build 30 new sites from scratch within 3 months (working only a couple hours a day!). Oh boy, I am really getting maxed out on the process of setting up the blogs but I am down to my last 8 which I hope I can knock out in the next couple of weeks. I’ve been doing some promotion using my Burn Your To Do List subscription as well as the WPSyndicator plugin I bought (it’s pretty neat – posts directly to Web 2.0 sites right from WordPress).

As of a couple days ago, I have 7 sites on page 1, 9 on page 2 (with 3 in the #11 spot – oh so close!) and the rest on page 3 and beyond. They are all indexed and ranking now. Once I finish the last 8 then I will promote as much as I can to get the stragglers closer to page 1.

Here is the income report. I had to correct my CJ number from July because I realized I was reading the reports wrong. CJ is confusing on how they report it. You have a balance that carries over if you didn’t make the $50 pay cutoff so I was seeing some of that last time.

Adsense $287.13
Clickbank $20.17
Amazon $2.08
eHow $23.85
eBay $16.77
Linkshare $0.89
CJ $37.71
Independent Affiliate #1
$25.00
Automate Angela’s Links $5.00
E-product $11.97
Independent Affiliate #2 $34.60
Chitika $0.34
Infolinks $3.76
CPALead $0.83
Zazzle $54.06
Independent Affiliate #3 $4.70
TOTAL $528.86

  • Well, there is always next Halloween too, right? LOL

  • Hi Maria – I’ve been to your site before. Thanks for stopping by! I think the problem was after the Mayday/Caffeine thing earlier this summer. My traffic just dropped in half. I didn’t do anything so I am assuming it’s Google’s fault LOL

  • Congrats on your earnings, really looking good! I saw some of your older numbers and you were up to $1k some months; what do you think caused the decrease?

Best of luck with those Halloween sites. :)

  • I’m right there with you. I have been trying to put up 20 Halloween sites this summer and still have 7 to go. Not sure if I will make it with my other business obligation demanding my attention. Oh well, I’ll eventually finish them all but maybe not til after Halloween is over.LOL

  • Well, I got my system down so I know what has to be done for each new site. Thank goodness someone else wrote the content or I never would have been able to do it!

I’ve read that parents start buying kids costumes first in August/September and then adults wait til the last minute. Check out Google insights for any costume keyword and you’ll see that last week of October is the peak. Crazy! I can’t wait!

  • I am imressed with all the Halloween sites you’ve managed to put up given the time issue! Sounds like you should definitely be making some sales in the run up. I have just one Halloween site and bang on September 1 the traffic started to increase – I think people are planning their costumes more now. I have been so behind my own Halloween site, too much time writing my PLR pack instead lol.
