With all the smart people that work at Google, you would think they would know which of their AdSense publishers already have an AdWords account and thus, the coupon that they sent me is pointless! Every few months or so, Google sends me a $100 coupon to put towards Adwords. The problem is, you can only use one coupon in the lifetime of your Adwords account and in this case, you have to have a new Adwords account and apply the coupon within 15 days. I actually ran one Adwords campaign for my e-product over a year ago just to kind of see what it was all about. I used a $25 coupon I think and now I am not allowed to add anymore to my account.
Anyway, I thought instead of just trashing it, I would give it away to a reader on my blog! If you have been curious about Adwords and wanting to give PPC a try, then here is how you can win my coupon…
Just add a comment below and briefly give your best bit of advice for new internet marketers. It can be anything – I just want some nice comments
I will randomly pick a winner (as long as you leave the appropriate comment…). Comments will be accepted through May 19 and I’ll let the winner know on May 20.
In order to be able to use the coupon, the following rules apply:
1. You must not already have an Adwords account. Sign up if you win the coupon.
2. The coupon must be applied within 15 days of opening the account.
3. If the coupon is not applied by June 4, then the value falls to $75. It expires on June 30.
The winner will be emailed the code! Now, get writing!
Sara-That is great that you did that, and congrats to Jacob for winning. I have never done an adwords campaign. Maybe one day when my Authority site gets a lot bigger!
Just write a small bit of advice for new marketers and I’ll put your name in the hat. Thanks!
Hopefully I made it in time before the deadline
Here is my advice to new internet marketers:
1) Do what you love. If you quit your 9-5 in order to blog about something/market a product that you don’t *love*, then you’ve just substituted one tedious job for another.
2) Community matters. Those forums you participate in regularly will introduce you to people who will help you in your business. If you join a forum in order to use it for marketing, and it feels like a chore to post there every day, then you’ve picked the wrong product/niche to be promoting.
3) Visitors/clients don’t care about you (at least initially), they care about what you can do for them – and there is nothing wrong with that. Always highlight how your services will improve their lives. If you are a blogger, think about whether your blog provides them with useful information, lets them live vicariously through you, gives them a platform to voice their opinion – if so, then you can make a business from it, if it is just a personal journal, then there is no business there (its of value only to you and your loved ones).
4) Play to your strengths – if you hate writing but love socializing, then focus on the latter and see if you can find someone else to do the writing etc. (caution: finding reliable people you can work together with is more difficult than you think).
5) Don’t pay big money for technology services. Your local highschool has several bright, talented geeks who would love to work on a “real world” project and even get paid for it. Put up some posters in front of your highschool and see what kind of skillset you can tap in to.
6) Be anonymous. Be aware of ways in which someone could get your real information (esp. ‘whois’ information), and ways in which you could hide it (namecheap.com anonymizer)
Good luck with your marketing!

i want the coupon
Hello,
I am a beginner in adwords, I want to create an account and start a campaign for my new business. That coupon would be useful for me.
I read some articles and the best advices I can give is:
– Generate, optimize, expand and order your keyword list using a spreadsheet and some techniques.
– Create an ad that sells ONLY to interested people.
– Make the most of your money: reduce costs of your campaigns while increasing clickthroughs.
– Avoid high CPC keywords.

Thank you in advance if you give me this coupon.
