No more domains for me!

I’m serious. My name is Sara and I have a domain problem. LOL! OMG I love to do keyword/competition searches imagining all the money I am going to make with all the little gems I am finding – hehe. I need to STOP IT. I need to finish my Niche Blogger blogs first before taking on anything else. I just can’t help myself. Yesterday, I found a two word phrase that has 200,000 plus searches a month (broad) and 171,000 competition. The plural version of the domain (keyword.net vs. keywords.net) was almost as good. About 40,000 broad and 50,000 competition. I couldn’t pass it up so I bought both, thinking that I can redirect the plural domain to the main one in case someone types the name in wrong. This is in a niche that is up my alley and something that is easier to blog about, plus I have plans to create a product. This is a niche I have been looking at a long time but before The Niche Blogger, I wasn’t able to pinpoint a good domain because I didn’t know how to do keyword searches correctly.

This site won’ t be following TNB exactly but I will be using a lot of the information, especially about marketing. Ok I swear this is my last domain for a long time! I currently have 19 domains bought – oops. And I haven’t even finished one of them yet all the way through. Only 9 I would consider TNB sites, one is my generic domain name, a few are throwaways that I wasn’t thinking correctly on and didn’t pick the best name so I will let them expire. I also have one little site that sells a product.

I barely have time to work on any of it so I need to stop buying new domains which only puts pressure on myself. I am trying to focus on one or two over the next couple of months and knock them out, getting all the tasks done!

    Shelly/Sara:
I am discovering the same thing about Amy’s blogs. If you follow her history, she only converted her html sites to blogs early last summer. She started the membership site at the end of August – hardly enough time to have 6 months of content posted. Plus – the site that she sold on sitepoint only had 24 posts (or was it 12, I can’t recall). I was on the forum the other day – I am not seeing anybody making a living off her techniques…

I think she paid off her debt from her membership site earnings – and not from her blogs…

Sara – I’ve done some snooping around and have figured out that even Amy doesn’t follow her own guidelines the majority of the time. She has what looks like a bunch of “Google Sniper” sites herself. :-D

I’m not leaving TNB, I have a lifetime membership, I’m just not going to stress out about getting 60 posts per blog. I’m learning its more about backlinks, keyword choices and keyword density, than it is about making 60 posts.

I have older blogs from prior to joining TNB and they are doing better than my NB sites. I’m not really sure why, I guess it could be age. I’m embarrassed to admit some are even .info blogs I bought back before I knew any better!

Thanks for stopping by Shelly! Why are you moving away from TNB? It’s tough for me to get all those posts done but I like the marketing techniques.

Too funny! I just purchased my 61st website tonight. I purchased a domain on Saturday night too. That should make you feel better!

I do the exact same thing you do. I love doing keyword research, buying domains, and dreaming about all the adsense clicks and sales I’ll make. I seriously need to knock it off already.

I’m also with TNB (Llola) but don’t think I’ll be following Amy’s program for any more of my blogs.
