WordPress freakout today

I use WordPress on all of my blogs. I have two hosting accounts (one at Bluhost and one at Hostgator) and spread my sites between them. I was editing TNB #1 today and noticed that when I edited an existing page, no changes were being registered. The next thing I know, all my posts are gone. G-O-N-E. Poof! I saw it at work (cause uh *cough* I may check in on things from time to time while at the JOB *whistles*) and almost cried. 20 some posts MIA. Freak. Out.

I knew I didn’t delete them so I thought maybe it was some kind of database issue since the rest of the site was OK. I couldn’t do anything about it (at work, remember) so I worried that I wasn’t going to make my usually 39 cents in Adsense today *snicker*.

Of course, I’m a dope and haven’t set up automatic backups so was wondering all day how I was going to get out of this pickle. Turns out that I could have rescued my posts from Google’s cache but man, what a lot of work to manual repost them.

Totally relieved to see a few hours later that all my posts were back! Yay! There was some kind of database upgrade happening at Hostgator that was the problem.

All systems go now and I need to get my hands on a backup plugin :)
